Chinatown Half-Dollar – Quality Magic:
You explain to a spectator that your hands are very fast and that you would like to test this speed right before his eyes. Tell the spectator that you are not going to hit him in the eye, but you will use two coins. You show an American half dollar and a Chinese coin for him to examine. They are then covered with a handkerchief or silk scarf.
One of the coins is removed from the scarf and quickly shown to the spectator. You then put it in your pocket. The spectator is asked to name which coin was removed, the Chinese coin with the hole in it or the American half dollar. When the spectator mentions the correct coin, you praise him and tell him that you will do the trick a little faster if he promises to look a little slower. This phrase always gets a good laugh. From this point on in the effect, the spectator will not be able to name the real coin that was removed from the scarf. At the end of the effect, both coins can be examined again.
