The magician lays a deck of cards on the table – the deck is in the box. A spectator thinks of a card and mentions it. The magician takes the deck out of the box, spreads the cards out and shows how a single card is turned face up. This is of course the spectator’s chosen card. This card is also the only one with a different back from the others.
